Block and heads are at the machine shop (as of yesterday) and should be done middle of next week

oh yeah its gonna be nice and fresh... sooooo clean!!!! damn thing has NEVER been touched though... everything was tight as hell and the valve covers and front main have been leaking for a while! But my machinist is hot tanking the block all weekend so it will be CLEAN!!!! he is honing the block, checkin the decks/shaving if necessary, shaving both heads and full valve job..... have to buy a few more little things but we have everything for the most part. I have friday through wednesday off, work thursday, then friday through monday off! Plenty of time to get this thing all cleaned up and reassembled

Yeah, it'll be nice for a 3.0..... Oh man its not much fun, this is the first time I have ever worked on one of these engines! I didnt even realize they had the bed plate style mains.... Its a damn good thing I am doing this before next summer, I doubt it would have lasted much longer. Thermostat was fubarred, timing idler pulley bearing was starting to go out, found alittle bit of milkiness in the bottom of the pan, and the front main seal was going out... And WTF was Toyota thinking with that POS exhaust crossover setup? I mean seriously.....  Smokin a little too much Opium perhaps?

Got the block back today, decks were all in spec, hot tanked and honed over the weekend. cleaned it up some more and painted the block! Also got the pan cleaned and painted today as well.
Went to Toyota to get a new vacuum thermistor valve, then to Oreillys and picked up all new belts, radiator hoses, air filter, pcv valve, NGK platinum spark plugs, thrust bearings and 5 more freeze plugs since LCE only sent me 6.... WTF? I'm thinkin that should be everything else we need so I'll get the bottom end built this week and once the heads are done next week (my machinist is building a big block for a guy so he is first in line) then I can get the rest of it assembled. Its going to be like a brand new rig!

well I'm getting ready to go into the shop and clean/paint some more stuff after I run the injectors over to the injector shop to get cleaned/flow tested/resealed and screened!

I think that engine is going be much better then any toyota rolled off the line! lol

Well here is what a piston looks like with 180,000 miles after a good in depth hour of hand cleaning with a pad of automotive scotch bright, small snap on gasket scraper, a small triple angle pick, and some patience....

they have been soaking for 9 days....... and yes, patience usually takes a couple beers and a few cigarettes for me and I am mellow jello.... just finished two more tonight. got the heads back, I guess that 5 outta the 6 intake valves were slightly bent at the head, he got them straightened out and dead centered so new valves werent necessary so I am assuming someone threw a timing belt in this thing and thats all they replaced... $350 cash for a full valve job, shaving, hot tanking heads and block, honing block, and checking the block decks! sweet floppin' deal!!! hopefully I will have this thing running next week then I can do the exhaust and header on my 93 then on to my 85 runner!

that thing is sweet. what the average cost of that lift?

  The PO of mine torqued up the torsion rods so there is no travel in the dam thing !! UGGG

$800 for the 4'' trailmaster and $800 for the full Marlin 5'' rear kit.

Untorque them, I cranked mine on my previous IFS truck just to clear the 33's and I HATED the ride quality..

I got the head studs locktite/torqued to 10 ft/lbs, 9 freeze plugs installed minus the back two, crank and mains are in and torqued 45 ft/lbs plus 90 degrees, and two pistons in. Also pressure washed/steam cleaned the engine bay in the runner, that had me at the shop till quarter after one...(in the AM)
