truck is the one in my sig. i discovered today that when i lock the manual hubs and drive regardless if im in 4 hi 4 lo or in 2 hi the truck feels like im driving on a coblestone road. when i unlock them it goes away. does this mean my front hubs are toast? :-\

Maybe it means the front driveshaft is toast.
Dr.Maxwe001 – well i have a 15 gal compressor now and if I gett he 60  and then use the 15 as a reserve that wil give me 75 gal  thats close to 80 isnt it ?

most definately the fron drive shaft. cv's spind fine by hand but the driveshaft binds in one position. so my next question is whats a good upgrade? i plan on doing a 3in lift w/ 33's so i can learn to wheel it better before i go to sas.

go with another stock one for now.   you'll change it when you do the sas. anyways.

put your ifs through the ringer so yo can compare it to the sas... world of difference almost have to re learn how to wheel

axled89

just start saving for the sas now screw the shaft.   putting money into the ifs is a waste.
i love oregon wheelin.

Except he wants to be able to wheel it now  :shake:

as it is still a dd i need 4wd during the winter but there's no excuse for driving a broken truck. i talked to a buddy whos the car/truck guy (i know motorcycles) and he suggested it may just be the u joints, so ill check those but with 228k and beating on it all through high skool i think it would just be better to replace the whole thing.

Spuds,

I think your bud's right about the u-joint. Had the same thing happen to my 86 4Runner. I checked the drive shaft for sloppyness and it was tight so I missed it at first.

It was actually a siezed u-joint bearing on one side. Made it wobble bad.
