Anybody been done the "alpine loop"

Was looking to take my girl and mom on something fun for them. I will be driving from dfw taking a little tour of the south/southwest area. Headed to white sands, Roswell, Santa fe, pagosa, durango, silverton, ouray, alpine loop, then a hopefully a peak at moab. Been to Durango many times, just never in the summer. Figured i'd take about a week and a half to cruise through it all.

But i was wondering how much time the whole alpine loop would take up, I'm really just wanting to go to moab.

You could do it in a day, but it is much more enjoyable to take a few days and really see the landscape.

Doing it in 1 day would be rushed.  When you take the time the women will want to spend in Silverton, and Telluride, I think you will be pressed to do any of the off roading.  I spent a week ther last summer, and still did not get to do all the trails.  It is a beautiful area.
