Started on the axle, one stud just spins and it just HAD to be a bottom one   I'm going to leave it for now and hope for the best, if it leaks I'll pull it while it's on the truck and replace all the studs with new ones.  I was a little overwhelmed with all the gaskets but Glen and Max helped me out in the shout box so I hope it's correct.  Started blowing rain in on me so i bagged the axle and went inside for a few beers.  More tomorrow!

Looks good, have any finished product pics?

YotaNate

Well the axle is ready to go under the Runner but I didn't get the nuts and washers with my flip kit from MC  :slap: and they sent me all 6 same length shackle bolts so I am waiting on those to :(   Supposed to be here Thursday on the FedEx truck!

She's back on her own shoes!     A few pics.....

And here's how she looks now...

And another...

WOW I hope it settles some in the front LOL!    ???  For the record these are 33's and I plan to run 35's but it looks like I could clear 37's right now!  These are Marlins 4" springs.  The rears I have no idea, came with the IFS lift I guess, thats what was on it when I got it.
WOOT!!   :beerchug:

I would also like to say MC messed up my order AGAIN!  LOL  I paid for 3 day shipping and they sent it out that day for me but somehow lines got crossed and they sent it snail mail hehe.  When I called to check on my order Thursday morning they figured out they goofed up the shipping and get this, they resent a duplicate order right there on the spot OVERNIGHT on the house!  I got my parts Friday so I was able to get it put together on my day off!  Yay!  My hats off to the crew there in Fresno.   :beerchug:

I'm worried about this!  I was told that I would not have to move my Steering box from the stock location if I welded the front hanger on flush with the frame.  Do you think when it settles it will move the draglink forward enough, because I sure don't think so!  Hmmmm

And here is the shackle angle, should be good when it settles.

Looks like I have alot more work to do!  :screwy:

joeycool00

well chief it's ddefinatly going to strike the joint once you are articulated. i have the exact same set up. the way i fixed it was i put a bump stop right before it hit my joint, and for the front settling it wont much like 1.5" so you will have to rise the rear. mine has a four link but soon it will be leaves in the rear, but you will hit that joint with the drag link I guarantee! here  AM SMACKING MY TIE ROD! I'm not so sure it is going to hit. Mine looks similar to that and I thought the same thing but it works fine. Especially with the shackle angle you have, the axle is going to pivot back under compression away from the drag link. Have an observer watch while you stuff the driver's side and see if it works. You never know till you try

Pic of the lower shock mount and the funny tube.  Just want to be sure I am suposed to be using this like I have it in order to allow clearance for the shock?  Have a look .....

In the pic I am just holding the shock up for comparison.

Nate

***EDIT*** Nevermind the saran wrap, I dont have the metal plates that bolt over the felt/rubber on the axle ball so it's keeping the sand out untill they come in the mail!   :hammer:

I would get a hd steering box mount and move the box forward anyways, Those bolts look a little rusty,  the mount comes with new ones. That would bother me, even if it doesnt touch :twocents:

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO MOVE THE BOX LEAVE IT ALONE

If you want you can buy the extra reinforcement stearing box brace however i have a 93 truck that I did a sas on and I didint have to move the box at all and i stuffed the shiznits out of it on the driverside a few times I have my front spring hanger mounted flush with the front of the truck and it NEVER HIT  and my springs were seteled when I bought them  so I am telling you LEAVE IT ALONE unless you want trouble on your hands  :bat:

I agree with maxwe001, Mine is in the same spot, and the axle DOES move far enough back when stuffed. If I had my druthers, I'd use a flat pitman arm. Other than that, foggetta bout it!!! Lookin good Nate. Carry on.............

Thanks guys!  I should be able to finish up a few little things this weekend.  I know it's FAR from ideal but I picked up a set of steel 1.5" blocks for the back to help level it out until I have the cash for Marlins rear 5" kit.  I also ordered the knuckle/seal parts I was missing from Davez offroad in CA so those should be here soon as well.  :driving: All that's left after that is to connect  the exhaust back up, I had to cut the CAT out because it was RIGHT where I needed to drill for the shackles in the frame. :flamer:  More pictures in the next few days!

looks good man. i just sas ed my brothers 88 and it said the same thing i tacked it and set it down to look at shackle angel and it was to straight up and down. i moved front hanger farther back than they say. i wanted a better shackle angel to get better ride and more droop when flex it out. i don't know why they say that. that will fix the PS box problem or move it forward. Jeff at marlin told me to the more parallel you get the arms the better it will feel on the road.

go big its almost ready for Wheeling.

WOOHOO!!  :woohoo:

Old Blue is on her own 4 wheels again!  I put in the 2 inch rear blocks  :stopit: I know but it's only until I can afford the 5" rear kit from MC.  Just wanted to level her out a bit on the cheap.  First pic is the Tie Rod/Drag Link, you can see the box needs to go forward.  That's as much as I could get the truck flexed with what I have at the house and they do not hit because vertically they are still separated by about 3" but I'm still planning to move the box forward about 1".  Wish I had a way to get it fully stuffed so I could be sure there is no contact with anything before I burn in the shock hoop and move the IFS box.  Oh well.

And a few for fun...

These are 33's from my 82 pickup, I would like to run 37's but can't find anything I like in a 15" wheel and 17's are friggen RETARDED  expensive.  Might just go with a 35  :headscratch:

Another.....

Cool build. Thats a clean runner in my Michigan opinion. Judging by those perfect rocker panels that I am really jealous of.

Also jealous of that awesome blue interior.  :snare:

Well a few updates,

I got the left and right sides finished.  Burned in the shock hoops, bump stops and bump stop extensions.

Still sitting very high up front, these are Marlins 4" springs!  :shocking: I really hope it settles and my shackle angle improves, I even mounted the drop hanger flush in the front!  :headscratch:

One from the side....

So what do you guys think?  :headscratch: Still to come, 37"  AT's and hopefully Marlins 5" kit for the rear and Davez long spline front DL!  Now I just need more $$ hehe!  Off to BBQ some chicken and have a   !!

You can always pull the bottom leaf out to lower it a bit and improve your shackle angle. It will settle a bit as well.

YotaNate

If it doesn't settle how I want it to then I plan on re-drilling my shackles to 4.5" on center which will improve my pinion angle as well.  I'm going single 4.7 case with twin stick so i need all the help i can get in the DL angle.

Just remember that every inch you shorten your shackles only drops it 1/2 inch.

I know, part of the reason for the shackle change is the pinion angle for the front DL.  If i get 3/4" out of the shackles and it settles 1" I'll be happy.  With MC's 5" rear kit it should look great and clear 37" BFG AT's with no issues.
