98 Elocker....
« on: Apr 18, 2010, 09:29:04 AM »
I found a 98 elocker on craigslist for $600.. its the full rear end with the wiring..  seems like a good deal? Is it? Or should I try the junkyard to get one cheaper.. and are there different years of elockers that are better or ones that I need to stay away from?

Thanks :)

hmmm, I bought mine complete for $150.  It needed a r&p and axle seals/bearings.  Better deals are out there I'm sure.  If you can ever find one at a pick n pull they'll sell it to you cheap...  Also I noticed their inventory is FINALLY online.

It is not a great deal, but if it's in good shape with low miles it might be worth it. Jake got a good deal, but had to rebuild his too. Just check it out really well.

I've seen guys buy just the diff alone for that.  And your getting a complete axle?  Around the PNW most parts aren't cheap, too many tight wads wanting top dollar for everything.  Some people just get lucky and find smoking deals.  The biggest issue is how do you feel about paying that much?

There has been reports that the axle housing is not as strong as the hilux housings.  Especially around the suspensions mounting points.
