Well, here we go again. This will be build #6, as things have turned out the 4 runner just isn't going to cut it.  The frame is really bent. (worse then we thought) None of the body lines match up, and I was really hoping to make it nice.  So instead of spending a grand to exo the runner, I'm going to throw everything at this 87 2wd that I picked up.  So here it is. I got some pics of the start.  Enjoy.

specs:

22r (soon to be on propane)
5spd
dual ultimate cases
toy axles with yukon 5,29's, detroit front, spool rear, 30 spline longs
allpro 5in fronts, chevy rears
allpro crossover and hi steer
37" mtr's hopefully going to 40's soon

Day 1

Guy said there was a noise in the head. Sure enough, it jumped like 6 teeth and grenaded the head. So out it came to make way for another 22r.

Decided to cut 12" out of the long bed.

All welded up. Time for some bondo

Next on the list is to get the front suspension done while the motor is out.  But I have read that getting the front shackles mounted is a biotch. So if anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

Well I got some work done today.  I started stripping down the 4 runner to swap everything over to the new truck.  Here are some pics for your enjoyment.

Backed in and about to be dismantled.

As you can see, she has a bit of a Gangsta Lean.... Bent frame for the freakin loss...

Dual Tcases out and ready to be cleaned up....

Motor getting read to come out. Fuel injection is over rated... Going back to a carb and gonna run propane.

Ready to be tore down... New head is ready to go. Thanks T.rex!!!!

i SAS'd an '86 2wd and ended up using some jigs i got from marlin and cutting with the torch. the holes were a bit wonky, but i tacked and measured to make sure they were straight. right after i welded them i seen someone holesaw 4 frame plates, weld the plates to the frame (over the torch cut holes), and then weld the tubes to the plate. it looked much better, and was probably stronger than the gap filling a ultimately had to do.

So why you goin to a truck now instead of the runner?

The runner was a heap.  Bent frame, too short of wheel base, intense cat urine smell...  Not to mention I couldn't pass this little rig up.  And maybe the most important reason... My wife didn't like the runner and wanted me to go back to a truck.

Well, I got some more work done on the new rig this weekend. T.Rex came over and helped out. Nothing too exciting just yet, but we are getting there.  I will let the pics do the talking.

We might have to trim the front fenders a little...

Stink bug status...

That's all for now. I'm in the process of cutting the front suspension out from under it now.  Hopefully I can have it all out and cleaned  up before the weekend.

Well guys the time has come.  I busted my tail and finally got this thing rolling.  All I have left is the drivetrain, and it will be wheelable.. Well that and some sliders.  I didn't get have much time for pics as I was by myself hanging the front end. But here are a couple I took...

I just use a angle grinder and metal cutting wheel.  There are a lot of ways to make sure the line is straight.  But the way I do it, is to use a T-square to draw the lines.  Easy as pie....  It does help that this is the 7th truck i have bobbed.
