i dont know for a fact but i would guess... not a chance. the floor board and the whole body is totaly different. it might even be a couple inches wider than the 1st gen seat. i bet you could make some like brackets and fit it tho

No, not at all.  A buddy has an '88 Runner w/front and rear 2nd gen Runner seats in it, so it can be done.  He bought it that way, so I am not sure what it takes, but it can be done.  It shouldn't cost you much to pick up a 2nd gen seat and see how it would fit, you should be able to get the front and rear seats for under $1-150.

I don't know if your looking for an OEM install or just a seat that will fit. I used a rear seat from an Amigo. Fits very well in between the wheel wells and has partially intigrated seat belts. Hope this helps.

thanks, looking for more oem. I think I have second gen seats for the front and the ride height is way too high to the point where you hit your head every time you get in or out.

If you didn't install them you could have non-Toy seats in there.  I installed a set of 3rd gen truck seats into a 2nd gen truck and they were fine for me at 6'2" and a bad back that doesn't bend anymore.  The only seats that I installed in a truck w/the results that you have were '02 Honda Accord seats into an '87 truck.  It was hard for me to get into an out of, and had it not been an X-cab my head would have rubbed the roof.  Fortunately the buyer was only about 5'5" and thought they were perfect.

You might take some seat-to-roof measurements and compare them to what others have.  If you are over 6', you should look for some Supra, Celica, MR2, or Prelude seats.  You sit lower in these seats then the truck seats, which gives you more head room, and since they re designed for 2 door coupes, you get more leg room w/more head room.

cool thanks, yeah, my stepbrother banged his head a couple times real hard because he used to have a '85, so he isn't used to the height, but makes for a good laugh. The passenger seat is rigged with 30 washers to kind've level the seat. Now I know where to get spares from

The 30 washers would appear to be a sign that they aren't Toyota seats, it usually doesn't  take more than 2 on the rear outer mount to level up the backs.

I took some measurements of my '90 X-cab and the '84 SR% I am restoring for a nephew.  The '84 w/oem buckets are 37' rear of seat to cab, and 41" from floor(between the rear mounts) to the cab, and the '90 was 37.5" and 44"(measurement taken on non X-cab section).  IIRC, the 1st gen. Runner cab is a few inches taller than the truck cab, so some 2nd gen Runner seats, or 3rd gen truck seats should fir w/o much issue. same should go for 3rd gen Runner and Taco seats.

For what it is worth, '93-98 Supra seats will give you an extra 1.5-2.5" of head room.  When I installed a set in my '91, I raised the rears up 1.5" so they would be the same height as the '90, to make the two seam identical from the drivers seat.  The extra 1"would on the drivers seat is from the adjustable height.  The only down side I find w/the Supra/sport car seats is that thigh bolstering tends to get worn more since you are stepping down out of a truck instead of climbing up out of a sports car.  Not much of an issue, unless the control panel sits under the thigh bolster and you knock the power seat adjustment knobs off like I have done.  After having to search for one a few times I tied them together so they can't get lost when knocked off.

Its not a direct bolt up, but the go in easily. The hardes part is relocating the latch bracket on the wall of your runner.  I will take some picks later.  They look factory, and are even sorta comfortable.
