Winching questions?

Wrong, rope is A LOT safer to splice back if it breaks, it takes a bit more knowledge and tools then a couple u-clamps, but the splice ends up being stronger then the plain rope.

as far as safety is concerned, splicing rope is a much stronger result then the u-clamps on cable.

Odd, used to do it all the time before being regulated out. In fact most cable was bought raw and the assembled by the company. Never had one fail, if done properly it is as strong as fused cable.
