Dr Phat

Im in the process of building my axles now that I have my suspension lift, steering, and cab swap squared away.

I have a lead so far on a FJ-80  housing for my front axle and a used Detroit EZ locker for the rear.

Still need to get reverse cut 5.29's, regular 5.29's, and chromo axle shafts.

My question is, I plan on running 38x12.50 TSL SX, do you see and weak points I overlooked? I think I covered most of the stuff but let me know. Im still new to Toyota and learning the limits of the axles and other parts. Let me know what you guys think!

I guess Im just asking for help on how to build my axle too.  :hammerhead: :help: :ha_ha:

If you plan on going with a fj80 front axle, what are your plans for steering? Typical Hy-steer is very expensive for that axle.

Well the hi-pinion 3rd member chunk shouldn't effect the current All-Pro high steer I already have no?

Maybe there was just some confusion in my post, Im only using the 3rd member housing chunk, not the entire axle housing. Im guessing the complete axle housings are different?

The axle housings are very different, length, axle size, knuckle size. The 1 thing they have in common is the front 3rds.The 3rds in both the fj80 and the older 79-85 axles are interchangeable.

Yup, thats exactly what I'm doing. My truck is a 1984 so I want to grab a hi-pinion front for her.

Do I need a special locker for it too though? Marlin has Detroits listed for 8" and Hi-pinion.

Sweet!

Now as far as lockers, will a Detroit EZ locker grenade on me for the rear?

I found a good deal on a used one.
