New to Marlin with questions about r151 vs r151f
« on: Mar 11, 2010, 10:58:13 PM »
I have a line on a R151 from a 2wd truck.  I would like to know if it can be converted into a R151F for a 4wd truck. I have an 83 toy truck and the trans is done. eventually I plan to put the 3.4 v6 into it, so I figure why not replace the trans with one that take the abuse.

I looked at the other posts, the question has been asked before, but it does not appear that anyone has answered it.

thanks for the help.

Looking at the Pics, I don't see how you could use it other than running a divorced transfer case set-up.  The gear section might be the same, but you would still need the transmission and transfer case section to bolt it up to a transfercase.  A lot of time people part 3.0 vehicles when the valves or HG needs to be replaced due to the costs, so it shouldn't be to hard to find 3.0 trans/t-case for under $200.

I have a 3.0(R151f) trans kinda needs a rebuild comes with good t-case for 50$. I didn't see where you were located I'm in Portland Oregon
the tranny worked when I pulled it. Hard to down shift into 2nd and at a certain point between being on the throttle but just before coasting you can hear bearing noise.
