From webwheeler to broken wheeler.
« on: Feb 24, 2010, 11:02:57 PM »
Hello all! Ive been lurking for a while, and webwheeling for about 3 years or so, due to college and saving up money.

I just bought an 86 extracab, but it has some engine issues. Most notably, it wont fire :ack:. It is also puking coolant out of the exhaust, but the oil is clean? Anyways, I am in the process of pulling the head right now to see whats wrong with it. Worst case scenario, I get a new 22re and build my own! My goal is to lift it, lock it, gear it, and get some rubber bigger than the 235/75/r15 now on it(and probably not in that order :gap: ).

Im looking forward to the great tech and new people!

:welcome:....get that fixed asap. The longer coolant is in your cylinders the worse it can get. What do you mean by not firing? No spark? what have you checked?
Welcome and get that thing running right before dumping money into anything else.

Well the engine would turn, but it was not firing. this was while I had another truck trying to jumpstart it. According to the PO, the truck was stolen, and overheated badly, causing the issues. Anyways, I pulled the head last night, and it was a definite head gasket failure. There was also some scoring in the #2 and 3 cylinder. After talking to a friend of mine, we decided just to pull the rest of the engine and get a reman. from Davez Offroad.
