snap ring pliers (paging marlin)
« on: Nov 29, 2004, 08:03:50 AM »
I need a good set of snapring pliers that have the posts at the end of the jaws. I found a set I like at Harborfreight that are 13" long and I have used them before. But if I am going to buy a set, I would rather they were a quality set. Found several set's online, but they were all 8" or smaller. So where is everyone finding a good set of 13" snapring pliers?

Just for reference, I'm wanting a set of these for putting the snap ring on the end of the coupler in the dual adapter assembly. Thanks.

I actually just picked up a set yesterday (took a part a case for my 4.7s). I got retaining ring pliers, not snap ring pliers. They have a flat note for the rings that don't have holes in the ends but they are what works on the t-cases. Cost was about $15 from sears which means they are lifetimes!

I have a set of thosetoo. I tried using them to assemble my adapter, and it wasn't gonna work without me beating the crap out of my adapter. The snapring kept falling off of the pliers, and after 20 or so try's, it flew off the pliers, and nailed a corvette on the other side of the shop. No damage was done, but I figured it was time to stop. The snap ring came with two holes in it. So I need to pick-up a set of pliers with posts at the end of the jaws.

Sears had some of those too, IIRC right about the same price.
