Author Topic: A&G Motorsports Class 1 Race Team (Read 20367 times)

Recently picked up a class 1 race car. It's a Jimco Champion chassis with ls7, Albins 5 speed sequential trans bypasses and coils so on and so on. All the good stuff. Anyway our first race is Feb 6th in Parker Arizona. We plan on runnin the complete best in the desert 2010 season. We're based in Downey California the driver is Ray Griffith. Previously we raced jeepspeed and are currently 3 time defending class champs but are looking for a real challenge. So here it goes. New number is #1553

Just got back from Parker. Qualifying went awesome we actually nailed down the 2nd position overall. Beat all trophy trucks and only missed the first starting position by 4 seconds to Sam Berry the defending class champion. Totally awesome first time out.

Race was going good through 2 of 3 laps through 280 miles we were 3rd on course and second in class. Then at mile 401 the steering rack came completely off the car and before Ray could get it stopped it hit a pole and folded the lower a arm. Race over.

For a rookie team from jeepspeed to come out and nail down 2nd in qualifying and at one point in time have the overall lead of the race before a logistic issue( out of fuel ) is absolutely amazing. So proud of Ray and our whole team for steppin up and makin things happen.

We actually got lots of praise from HUGE race teams with million dollar budgets and race cars far superior than ours, and potential sponsorship opportunities from BFG, King shocks and a few other companies. So hopefully we will be able to improve our car even more and keep runin at the top of the class.

Next race is the Best In The Desert Mesquite race in Mesquite Nevada in April

Good news, the car is at KING getting fitted for the brand new KING 3.5's tripple bypass shocks with KING 3.5 coilovers all the way around. Gonna make a huge difference compared to the old out of date fox's that we had. Big thanks to KING SHOCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Should get the car back in about a week

Just got the car back from King. They put their brand new 3.5 tripple bypass and coilovers in the front and their massive 4.0 King Kings in the rear. Great work guys and a big thanks. They also got the car to sit about 8 inches lower it should handle 1000 times better

The car is completely tore down for a full prep for next race. Best in the deserts silver state bilkek 300 in mesquite nevada. Sent the trans in for a rebuild, also ordered a completely new steering assembly from HOWE and got new front a arms from jimco. Hope to give'em hell april 24th

Well the car is 90% back together, should have it done by wednesday and test thursday. Can't wait this is gonna be a great race. We leave for the race tuesday april 20th

Hey man I just mover down to Riverside not to long to attend The Fab School. Im really interested in getting into desert racing and just picked up a little baja toyota myself... I was wondering if you needed any help with anything.. Im no genius but have some knowledge and the drive to learn as much as possible. Changing oil, tightening loose nuts and bolts, chasing whatever you need I would be willing to help out as much as possible.

Went to barstow today to test with king shocks. They got our new shocks completely dialed in. King shocks rule, everything is just silly. New tranny worked great also if she holds together we should be in for a good run

Yea 10-4 barstow is where most race teams test thier stuff. 15 freeway exit outlet center turn right and you can't miss it. It's actually about 7 miles before barstow. MDR and MORE hold alot of races out there.

Me and my buddy got our new chase truck almost done today also. Looks pretty sick. We get our rack back from powder coat tomorrow. I"ll try to get some pics up this weekend

LOTS of things. My best advice is just go to a few local races and see it for yourself. ALOT of dedication helps also. Chase crew guys are a HUGE part of any race team

I second that! It takes alot to chase we pretty much do all the work to get the drivers to the finish, with the bigger trucks you need more help for sure!!!

Exactly. They can't do it without us that's for sure. Total team effort. We have 2 chase trucks and 1 fuel truck. Besides main pit but this race next week is a chase race, no main pit. Definately need to plan your logistics

Qualified 2nd out of 40 class1's and trophy trucks. Missed the pole by a 1/2 second.

Unfortunately electrical issues took us out at mile 22. They were able to limp it in to pit 1 race mile 43 and loaded it on the trailer. As we are not racing for points and were already 2 hours down at that point we made a team secision to save the car. Seat time would have been good but since this course is all fire roads it wasn't really worth it. Might race a night race in a few weeks to get some night driving under his belt and then focus on vegas to reno
