V6 gear ratios
« on: May 25, 2003, 03:32:37 PM »
I have been trying to figure out what gears are in my 92 toyota V6 w/ 33's.  With a chart we were using, we estimated that i have something between 4.56's and 4.88's, but i dont think that they have ever been changed from stock.  Is that possible, because it seems a little off to me? :help:

Look at the plate under the hood on the firewall, it will say in code what the stock gears are, there was an option with 4.88s with the 31" tire package and that could be yours, but it will still say on the ID plate. I think the info page is under Roger Browns website on those plates...

I think that is the case, mine came with some kinda of off-road option with skid plates under everything and 31's, so i think that you're right, thanx!

 If all else fails, just jack up the rear and spin the tire exactly 1 full turn while you count the rotations of the drive shaft. If it turns over just over 4 times, you've got 4:10's. If the shaft rotates almost 5 times per 1 rotation of the tire, then you've got 4.88's.  :thumb:
You get the picture.

   code G102 =4.38's
 code G142= 4.88's
code G292=4.10's
code G282=4.30's

oh yea V-6 gears will be G104,G144,G294,G284
the last digit indicates the 2 pinion 4cyl diff or 4 pinion v-6 diff
