I have a 1988 Toyota 4Runner up for sale.  This belongs to my mother-in-law.  Long story short; her and her now ex-boyfriend bought this a couple years back.  Ex-boyfriend took everything valuable and fled the country .  So, now we are selling a bunch of stuff.

The 4runner just passed smog and we are awaiting the stickers in the mail.  Currently registered and the title is not salvaged.  Carfax history report shows a rear or front end collision back in 95.  Content of damage, unknown.  Prior to the departure, the ex-boy friend had the head replaced and new cat put on.  He had been working on the interior a bit and seats are loose and missing some bolts to the front and rear seats.  The only thing I've done to it is, clean up the inside and remove all the audio wiring and alarm wiring.  Both were not functional.  Face plate of head unit was missing.  Alarm was non-functional.  Rear window rolls up and down with no problems.  Either by using the key at the tailgate or via the switch in the cab.  I cannot provide any additional info on this vehicle, other than what I've just stated and what the Carfax report shows.  Mother in-law can't provide a whole lot of info either.

Asking price is $2000 and selling as is.

Email me with any serious interest at dyogim at wellsfargo dot com.  Otherwise, post a reply for any other general questions/comments.

BigPapa

Title in her name or his or both!! Who has pink ?? I'm looking for a runner  (just dont like auto trans ) But good looking rig !!! Very good price !!

dyogim

Pink slip and registration all in mother in-laws name, not his.  Just received 2010 stickers in the mail and are on the plates.

The truck does have, what looks like, a 3" lift.  Rear suspension shows a 3" block.  Not sure what the lift is from though.  I still need to drive this thing in the rain to check for any leaks and also do a routine check (i.e. fluids, brakes, etc.).  I just don't have enough time to do it all.  Baby on the way, my own projects on my tundra (tcase swap from auto to manual), home projects and needing to work at night....

Hopefully, this runner goes to a good owner.  Hate to see this thing with curb feelers and 26"dubs with low profile tires :smack: :yikes:.

If anyone is interested in checking it out in person or need more pics, let me know by replying here or emailing at the address in the original post.  It's in my garage for now and will be bringing it to my brother's side yard.  Need my garage back and don't want to leave it on the street.

Thanks for the bumps!

Does the rig need anything other than some TLC? I noticed some oil residue (poss rear main seal)?

Minor leak would be okay, just nothing major. Also, does the A/C work. Is everything in tact with the A/C?

How does she run? Any issues with the A/T shifting at all?

Million dollar question: Is it mechanically sound enough to make it to Denver? I am looking for a clean rust-free rig to DD for my shop. I am linking my 3rd gen 4runner soon and need something else to drive while its down. I have no issues fixing mechanical stuff, but it needs to make the trip.

Off hand yes, looks to be some TLC and maybe some elbow grease.  :)

To be honest, I have not been able to really work on this runner.  I've been too busy to actually do a complete check top to bottom, side to side and front to back.  The better half is about 8 months pregnant and had a really bad fall on friday.  Mommy and baby are okay but, it was a scary moment and she was monitored friday and saturday.

In anycase, my full attention has been with the pregancy, work and stuff around the house.  After all that, then I can put my attention to the runner.

I did however, drive it for about 30 mins around town and up and over a steep graded hill in our area and it was slow but, it made it over without any issues.  I turned the AC on but, couldn't really tell if it was working or not.  When I turned it on/off, it was blowing cold air but, I didn't notice any temp change.  Not sure if it was just too cold but, I can try it again on a warmer day.  I haven't been able to check the origination of the oil residue.  The only thing I notice about the tranny is shifting in and out of OD.  There is a slight jerk but, nothing that's neck breaking.  It did rain when I drove it and I noticed no leaks.

To be honest to everyone, if there's someone local that can check it out for you to provide another opinion, it might be best.  I just can't find the time to work on it.   I don't want someone regretting there decision based on my little knowledge of the history of this vehicle.  I will try my best to answer the questions.

Thanks!

Thanks Mike. I am going to see if Paul (Boogerwelds) can come take a look at it for me. He is in Oakdale.

Sounds good.  Weekends are best to meet up.  I usually get home around 6pm and by that time, it's dark.

He might be able to on Friday night. Dark doesn't scare me if its light in the garage so he can look it over and then drive it.

Had to move it to my brother's side yard yesterday.  Needed the garage to work on my dad's car.  It's right down the street.  So, it's easily accessible.  Just let me know.

Any guy who takes his woman wheeling enjoys her. A woman who is owned is left at home to cook, clean, and keep beer cold. So if this offends you you should stop looking and go have some tacos.    :rofl2: And a beer. If your old enough.   :beerchug:

Sand, what fun, drop pressure to 12psi, stock tires are still digging, can't afford to get stuck, 8psi, still not working. Find a place to GET OUT, air up, un-lock hubs,  WAIT whats this, hubs are UN-LOCKED already. 2wd, 8psi, stock tires, Oregon sand dunes.
