I have a 93 toyota pickup SR5 and the abs light on the dash has come on recently. From the best i can understand the abs sensor reads off the ring gear in the differential. i took the sensor out cleaned it off as well as changing the gear oil in the diff and the light is still on. i was wondering if any of you guys knew if the light stays on once a problem with the system is detected or if it should go off when the problem is fixed? is my sensor more than likely bad or is there some other problem with the system i could be missing?

your front hubs (what the wheel bolts to and the bearings are in) also have sensors, check those

not only check the sensors but check the wires connecting the sensors and what not if theres a break in one of the lines the light will stay on!

My truck didnt come with front abs just rear abs.

Im gonna visually inspect the wires running to the sensor...theres just two of them...i wish i knew if i could test the sensor with a multimeter to tell if it was good or bad.

i say check the wires because on my 97 runner i pinched it on the rear axle and sure enough the pesky little light came on so just food for thought
