About the same as stock Toy 8".

Long field has a graph of it here:
http://www.longfieldsuperaxles.com/graph.html

Looks just shy of 4,000 for the Toy 8".

Lets put it this way. GM would not put a 454 behind a D44 or corp 10 bolt. You COULD NOT buy a 3/4 ton 4x4 truck with a 454. You will never find a Factory 4x4 Suburban with a 454. The axle couldn't take it. 88 454 is only rated 230hp. Its the 385lbft of torque at 1600 RPM that was the problem.
Alloy axle shafts and CTMs and you can make it work but your going to be blowing locking hubs or pinions if your geared up 488 and higher.

Personally with that much motor if he's a throttle junkie its time for a D60. A toy with Longs or a D44 with Warns is not  going to take it with a heavy right foot and a motor with that much power.

If hes a conservative driver that has a truck that works then yeah it can be done. Its wheel spin and sudden traction that breaks most parts. If he will lift when it spins then yeah go for it.

I speak for experiance. I was the guy riding on 35's when all my buddies were on D60's and 40's. I seemed to be the only one not having to fix my junk on the trail LOL.
Here is a review I did on the CTM's

http://coloradok5.com/ctm-d44.shtml

Bottom line is his right foot and tire size. With a 400hp engine he probably has the right foot to match, D60.

That's true about 3/4 tone Chevys.  The last generation Solid axle Chevy Suburbans had a 10 bolt in the front of a 3/4 ton truck.  How does that work?  A 10 bolt in a 3/4 ton truck? :bull crap:

Not too give glory too the toy axels but my buddy is running a 83 yota 7 inch skyjacker springs up front 2 inch lift shackles and 3 inch body lift and running 38 sx's with the toy axels still under it, all we have done is make our own version of the super birfield and they are holding up great.
And ohh ya its not stock under the hood if your wondering we are running a modified 350 small block pushing around 400 hp also out of a camero too a turbo 350 tranny with shiftkit and then too duel transfercases too high pinion toy diffs with 4.10's ft and well used too be rear till we snaped a rear shaft and it took out the ring gear but we still ran a trail we call the bluff in ft wheel drive with lots of skinny pedel and it got air a few times under the front and came down hard without breaking and this trail is pretty much 3ft and up ledges and 2ft n taller rocks and we made it all but the 4ft ledge because the rocks the front tires were on were wet and we couldent bounce the rear up over it.
so if you do it right toy axels will hold up too hell, so if he wants too run a d44 it should work especally if its just in mud boggs heck u run down 200 yards then stop drive back too the truck and then do it over again so it will work for bogging i think fine.
good luck whatever way you go.
adam
If you didn't make it, and it ain't broke, you didn't try hard enough.
