hi all ..

i just got my 88 pickup 2 days ago ..it has the 22-re, 5 speed, 4wd with 119 k miles for $2000 .. ive wanted one for 6 months and saved up and now and am happy i got it .. but looks like i have a problem already ..

the truck felt and drove good when i test drove it .. didnt hear any major noises and the tranny was shifting very smooth .. but when i was driving it back home on a lonely country road, i heard a whining/squealing noise when im driviing in 3rd and 5th gears.. its worse in the 5th gear ..when i let off the gas , the noise dissapears ..so i had to baby it home on 4th gear doing 55mph for the next 100 miles ..

what do u think is wrong ? am i screwed ? is my tranny gone or is it the motor ? surprisingly the 1st , 2nd and 4th gears are fine and the truck is very smooth and silent .. i even got 27 mpg driving it back home ..

i went online looking for the problem ..coundt find any info on it ..so i started to wonder how much a toyota transmission cost to fix and i stumbled across this web site .. is marlin crawler a famous toyota repair shop ?

any info is greatly appreciated.. anyone here in the 41056 zip code suggest a toyota specialist ? im in Kentucky/Ohio border ..

thanks in advance ..

My 83 did the same thing and it was a bearing. Probably the same thing.
