I know that the Gear driven R151F 23 spline is the strongest. but it's the rarest. what are the ball park limits of both the 3 varieties of transfer case:

22rte
22r
v6

I guess it's worth mentioning that I'm planning on something like 400ish HP out of a 2JZGTE

the gear driven tcase will take the stress alot better than the chain driven case thats the 23spline case

Do you hit peak power while in low range?

I wouldn't try the chain driven version.

The Atlas however isn't a bad idea for that much power.

OMG ...just google an atlas... that's like $2k.

Taco Runner, I don't think it'll see much torque below 2500-3000rpms. I'd be running no where over 450hp/torque... probably on even that more like 370.

Honestly, I'm not sure how much trail time it would even see. I'm not gonna lie. I'm not much into competing. I am basically trying to keep my 2j and have a chassis that I can have fun with ...go anywhere ...do a lot of :pokinit: with.

ive posted this many times before, and will again- in highschool i put a blown small block into a 83 4wd, the owner repeadedly did 4wd 5000 rpm launches for weeks untill he blew the rear end, so we put in a 9 inch...to this day (many many year later) he still has the same w56 and gear drive case, no mods. is he lucky? maybe...but i doubt it.

horse power? i dunno, over 500 at the crank

before rock crawling i was deep into desert racing..  it just gets expensive with all the race parts.. a 2jz in a yota would be awesome! just gives me some ideas for future projects.. :)

and yea more fun. the faster you go the smoother it is..  nothin like having 20" in the front and rear and flying over the whoop section at 80mph..

Durability of parts does vary greatly on driving style. I've built my truck with the best toyota parts availabe. But I still drive on 37"s and drive like a pregnant dog. Because I dont want to do trail fixes.

There is a guy that always brings parts in for the MCR events named Lewy, he drove a K5 blazer with a Chevy V8 and Dana 60's front and rear. He had Marlin Dual Cases, he broke them all the time, I guess that he had about 6 of them. But from what he told me, he was breaking them because of the massive weight of the vehicle. He weighed in around  7000lbs. I've seen other guys with buggies and V8's run Marlin Cases and not break for years. Or course that was before the Chromo outputs.

Just dont get snappy with the gas pedal and should be ok. Those Gear driven cases are tough sons of guns.
