Drift scene defector
« on: Dec 29, 2009, 08:57:27 AM »
I love this emoticon...  :shocking:

So I got off to a late start in life with cars, financial, responsibility, and planning a long term project.

Here's my first money pit...

91 Cressida with a 2jzgte single turbo and R154 conversion. This car never came stick. It's got a full suspension. Setup for drift.

It's just a pain in the ass chassis for anything but a sleeper. I went too far past that and been hating it ever since.

So I'm hoping to jump into this 88 4runner that is in meh condition but it's an easy way into the 4runner scene and allows me to part out my Cressida.

Future plans for the 4runner are pretty basic except for the 2jzgte swap. I just don't want another money pit at the moment. My time effort and dollars need to go toward my degree.

Anyways, look forward to contributing to the forums and a definitive how to thread for JZGTE swaps. I love to document :pokinit: like crazy.

Jake

Hey Jake, welcome to :turtle: land :welcome:

So let's hear some specs on the engine. What management were you using? How much boost? Did you ever Dyno it? If so would you happen to have a picture of the power band?

My first car was a 1987 MR2 that I put a JDM AE92 4A-GZE Supercharged engine into, mated a Previa van SC14 1400cc blower to it, and ran near 18 psi with a DIY water/alcohol injection system. Custom adjustable cam gears, WebCam grind 294 cams, TODA flywheel, Wiseco forged pistons at 9:0 compression, all plumbed through a normally aspirated large port JDM intake manifold and a TED Components 4-1 header. (full specs here: http://bigmike.marlincrawler.com/stage2_5/index.html)

It was also a huge money pit for me as I was constantly rebuilding things because I couldn't afford to build it right the first time (I was a teenager at the time). So I decided to put it in storage and build my 1981 Hilux :gap: which I

I actually have started working on my MR2 again and I plan to get it going for next summer

^^^story of the cressida. It was the first time I worked on a car... every single things was my first time. Very educating and humbling, but almost worth the debt accrued.

I don't have any figures cuz once I got one bug fixed something else woould go wrong. It's killing me. It was hella fast until the turbo started dying. I think it's an awesome swap for the older 4runners since theyre only like 2800lbs. My cressida is 3300lbs and it blows the doors off Supercharged V8s.

How much does a 4runner actually weigh?

And bigmike, I'll dig up so dyno charts of a bpu and bpu+ 2jzgte. Most times it's limited to the injector size. Jdm 2jzs come with 440cc injectors thus max out about 350-370 hp and 350ftlbs to the wheels. People usually go with a 60 or 65mm trim turbo for streetable power between 400 and 550 whp. I'll be reusing my T60-1 cuz it has a tiny .58 ar and is spooling at 1800rpms.

But I'll dig up some more credible info.

I have seen dyno sheets for 2JZ's before, I just like seeing more of em :gap: I never got mine dyno tuned which definitely prevented it from being all it could be. I was running 7M-GTE injectors; I know it had potential for over 300 hp and someday I will revisit and prove it to myself.

Do you have any drifting videos?

Geez just looked at your build page that engine is nuts. I think you should definitely revisit.

not gonna end up keeping the motor/tranny. I'm fully parting out. gonna get a reasonable DD and start a masters degree. A few years later I think like will suck less and I'd be able to jump into a project.
