94 runner 9.5/30 autotrans new mortor no power wtf. help
what after market mods will give me more power
Is this a 1kz engine?Intercooler3" exhaust and dump pipe.Booster controlPiggy back chip.
Headers are really expensive for those engines and are a PITA to install. they probly wouldnt be worth the money.
1kz?? its a v6 3.0 in a 94 4runner (3vze) 3" exhaust and a boost controller will not help it!
i had a 94 4runner with a 3.0 v6 4:30 gearing w/5 speed and 31 inch tires. Power OK but not impressive for a v6. I'm sure it had more power than a 22re. I just drove an extra cab with v6,31's, 4:10 and 5 speed. really felt like a slug. Then I tested another extra cab same set up but with 4.56 gearing. Much better results. I think gearing, is the real answer for more usable power.. with the 3.0. Also an auto is going to rob some zip. Throw a 5 speed in it.
If your close to central CA I have some headers for a 3.0, I will make a good deal on em.
in oakhurst central ca are thy smog legal
Note - about the "sluggish", if you are changing the transmission, consider swapping in a lighter flywheel. Most people complain about larger engines being slower off the line because it takes them longer to rev up to their power band.(often a full second longer than a small I4 engine) Oh - and a manual as well, the automatic effectively robs it of about 20-25% of its usable power. Some is actually losses, but a lot is the time it takes to shift and get moving. It is a miserable automatic, really - as to be expected of 1980s technology. It has the same "feel" as the early 80s GM crap, in fact - like the entire engine is attached to a box of viscous goo. Absolutely no sense of immediacy.
