Hollister Hills Dec. 4-7
« on: Nov 24, 2009, 12:21:50 PM »
I am planning a trip to Hollister Hills SVRA for the weekend after Thanksgiving, Dec. 4-7. I haven't decided how long the trip will be but anyone is invited to show up and play, or ride if you like  . I am thinking of arriving Friday late morning and camping/wheeling through Sunday late morning  :dunno:.

Hollister should be fairly dry by then but do expect a bit of mud and slippery hills. It should make for an interesting trip.  :disturbed:

EDIT: Friday Morning through Saturday afternoon. Camping on Friday.

I might be able to make it up there depending on if my truck is ready and if I can get a day or two off work..

No tank for me this trip :( but all is not lost. There are a few trails that are a bit less extreme that will be all wet :)

I'll be up for the clean up on Saturday,  I think I'll have part of my crew up there also.  I'll be unloading in Area 5 around 9ish.  I'll show you the best Hollister has to offer if your up for it :)

Sweet! It sounds to be a nice sized group. I have a few friends on my end going.

Just remember to email James Dutra and give him a head count for the free lunch.

Is anyone planning to be there Friday or is it just a Saturday crew? Anyone thought about Sunday?

I missed the whole clean-up BBQ and event. I was stuck on a trail. Yeah, I was "that" guy this time.  :_oops:

nice, where where you stuck?  I ran most of Hollister in the morning and didn't see you.

Don't feel two bad, I spent three hours stuck at the entrance to Tank Trap.  I got caught on that dang drainage culvert right at the beginning.  Ended up killing two batteries, and ARB, and a 60 short side inner.  All that before I even made the trail.

Got stuck in Sycamore Trail, I think. It may be Mini Tank Trap or Jungle Trail, no one has been able to tell me. So anyway, I rode too high on the wall and fell in. Broke a rim and had to get winched out. It may be time for a winch  :crossed:. It isn't too bad in the pictures but it got worse as we pulled me out. Too bad my camera man was trigger shy .

Damage!

Mini Rubicon, first attempt. I NEEDED A BETTER SPOTTER.

thats not breakin a rim. it looks like its a steel wheel, take a BFH and hit it back in place!
Life's journy is NOT about arriving at the grave peacefully in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, worn out and beaten, shoutin HOLY Sh** what a ride!!!

Run.... yes  :eyebrow:. Drive.... no  :rivers:. That thing looked gnarly. I can't afford damage to my cab and that trail is full of it. I may have to wait for next year's dry season to do it now.

If it wasn't Tracker, I went across the Mini Con real close to the end of the day. There was a Toy with Boggers trying to clime a washed out trail at the end of the mini con at the same time.
