If it's just a tiny bit in the cap it's ok.

It means you are taking to many shorts trips and the engine is not up to operating temperature long enough. This does not allow the condensation that builds in the engine to evaporate off.

I'm with OOPS might just be condensation. My Van used to do that.

+1 with OOPS; regular condensation. No worries. If the dipstick was also milky then you'd be looking at a head gasket/coolant in the oil issue.

Mine does that, but it does take some time.  Since most of my driving is less than 4 miles.  I was told by my engine builder, that it takes 20 minutes of driving to get all the moisture out of the crankcase.

You need the occasional hour or so high-speed run to drive all the moisture out..........

I wonder if it's an additive that's in the oil - like detergent or something?  The only reason I say this is because I've seen additives in fuel turn spark plugs different colors too.  Ever pull some plugs to find green or red electrodes?

so i cleaned it off yesterday and its already back a little bit. but a short drive makes total sence because i drive less than a mile everyday to work. and drive it wheeling on my weekends... it does not get many miles put on it. and its a new motor with less than 5000 miles on it..

Yep, there is an additive in the oil. It is called condensation.

For the most part as long as there is no oil in the coolant or reverse you should be safe, a leakdown test should be your friend here to make sure that there is not an underlying issue. There are also chemical test kits on the market to tell you whats in your fluids. I would hate to tell you that you are fine only to have a failure happen and not tell you to do these things to make sure.

Also understand that there are other ways that oil or coolant can mix such as one of the more typical things that happen such as the timing chain guides breaking and then the chain wears a hole in the coolant chambers. Be safe and check the cooling system with a pressure tester. This will tell you for sure if there is a leak then find it. If there is a coolant leak into the oil you will constantly have to add coolant which generally you won't have to do if there is no leak unless there is an external coolant leak be it from a hose, heater core or freeze plug and overheating included. Make sure that you don't have any external leaks then see if when you pressure test it that you are leaking internally. You could have a very minor leak that vaporizes creating condensation that does not mix with the oil. White is a good sign when mixing with oil since it means water not coolant which tends to be a grayer muddy color.

1 way I have found to check for a leaky head gasket is with your engine cold pull the coil wire and crank the engine over for a bit.  Then pop the radiator cap and if  theres pressure then you know its leaking.
