Its time for an oil change so stoped by costco on my way home yesterday. Normally about 33 dollars for a 6 pack (qts) mobil 1 synthetic. Well i got to the register and there was a 10 off coupon or something cause it was only 23 bucks. So go stock up, 4 bucks a qt for syn. :clap2:

I haven't checked but i know walmart competes in price for mobil 1 with costco. And from what i saw it was a mobil discount not a costco discount so it might work there as well.

Yeah just got Castrol synthetic for 4$ a quart at Kragen

Castrol is not the same as Mobil 1. If you want to spend the money on synthetic, get Mobil 1, Redline, Torco, Amsoil or Royal Purple. Those are the only "true" synthetics on the market, all others are "blends" and are marketing gimmicks.

Of course, $4/qt isn't that much more than regular oil these days.

And i assume its a somewhat limited time deal.

I don't think that your right. Prove it to me and I will believe you.  Castrol oil is better than Mobil 1 in my opinion.

One thought although possibly more economically persuaded.  1 qt of mobil one goes for 8 bucks and 1 quart of castrol goes for 4? Does the castrol say fully synthetic or does it say synthetic?

Im not really trying to prove anything, i just wanted to get the word out about a good deal on what IMHO is my prefered oil.

The synthetic oils I mentioned are made with a different manufacturing process than other oils. The base stock is "synthesized" (hence the original name synthetic) being derived from a refined petroleum vapor that results in uniform molecule size and shape.

Some time after Mobil brought their synthetic to the market the other oil companys lobbied the courts to have the legal definition of "synthetic oil" expanded to include highly refined oils that have the same performance qualities when new. These highly refined oils still contain standard amounts of addatives and break down at a normal rate.
