noisy speedometer

hey guys.i searched alittle but not to hard   :sleeping:. the speedometer in my 84 is pissin me off every morning for at least the first 10 min im on the road my speedometer makes this grinding clicking noise sounds like its got rocks in it. i swaped in anouther gauge cluster i had layin around and it was even worse so i put the original back in and tryed lubricating it.its only got 120k on it, are these things just wore out? any ideas?  :sleeping:

i was going to suggest greasing the cable but i guess you did that

sounds like maybe you might have a kink in the cable
