Why do people forget how to drive when it rains?? I mean come on - slow down a little bit, turn on your windshield wipers and headlights and just take it easy...

First rain of the season - and this is at 8am in Sacramento:

You're assuming they knew how to drive in the first place.  There's your problem.  :gap:

California doesn't have a lock on the problem. I've lived in a few other parts of the country... there are plenty of drivers people steering vehicles who have no common sense at all.   :shake:

Now I realize someone will say they are California transplants  :haha:  but I'd be surprised if that many California natives moved to the Midwest...  or farther east.    :blah:

I have always assumed that every driver out there has their head up their butt and just keep a safe distance or stay in front of them.  On rainy days its always worse.  But you dont want to be the person on the freeway doing 45 because its raining and you are being cautious cause that's just asking for an accident.

I'm not sure about other parts of the country, but in New Mexico , when it rains or snows we go faster! Why only bend a fender when you can total the whole truck? lol j/k Its like the plague around here too.

I always thought the faster you drove the quicker you get home...so there's less chance of an accident! duhh  :talkingn:

Dingman.

People don't get it..

I usually drive slower than normal in the rain anyways since being in a locked heavy 4runner..  but people are insane.. slow down a little..

I have people driving behind me soo close i can barely see the roof of their car..

fordh8r

It's like the saying about motorcycle riders...there are two kinds.   Those who have lost control of their vehicle in the rain and those who will. To those folks who had an accident in the rain today...  :welcome: to the club.  :rofl2: You are now officially no longer a "have not".  :gap:

All very true, slow down for weather really means adjust for conditions and allow extra space.

You guys haven't lived until you've driven the roads around here.  The first rain after silage season, the roads are slicker than snot!  I'd rather drive on ice and snow.

I've never had to drive so defensively in my life, as I do in California.

I've been amazed at the utter lack of driving skill I see every time I've driven to the bay area.  Flat out scary!  They've no concept of a safe following distance, everybody's on everybody's ass, and if you dare try and leave a little distance for padding, 2 cars will wedge in there before you know what happened.  And turn signals or looking over the shoulder?  :rofl2:

What you have to think about is the city drivers in cal are most of the bad ones. I live in the foothills and a lot of the city people live up here and work in the city. They should not drive when it is raining. They give the rest of cal a bad name

Any guy who takes his woman wheeling enjoys her. A woman who is owned is left at home to cook, clean, and keep beer cold. So if this offends you you should stop looking and go have some tacos.    :rofl2: And a beer. If your old enough.   :beerchug:

So what's all this :pokinit: about driving faster in Cali? Cali has some of the slowest speed limits in the country according to what I'm told. My friends who travel say "I can't wait to get out of Cali so I can let'er'rip!" :dunno:
