So what's all this :pokinit: about driving faster in Cali? Cali has some of the slowest speed limits in the country according to what I'm told. My friends who travel say "I can't wait to get out of Cali so I can let'er'rip!" :dunno:

Usually 65, some 70 speed limits........

(which means 75,80)

If you're towing it's 55...........

I have the easy answer for your question.

I am convinced that 95% of the general public is so utterly stupid that if breathing was not an involuntary reflex they would have died off years ago.  4% are reasonably intelligent and have enough common sense to get through life just fine.  Then there are the 1%ers that are truly gifted.  I'd like to think I'm in the 4% 'cause I'm definitely not a 1%er...

I've been amazed at the utter lack of driving skill I see every time I've driven to the bay area.  Flat out scary!  They've no concept of a safe following distance, everybody's on everybody's ass, and if you dare try and leave a little distance for padding, 2 cars will wedge in there before you know what happened.  And turn signals or looking over the shoulder?  :rofl2:
That's been my experience also, the few times we've had to go to the bayarrhea or to southern Calif. You pretty much have to blend in or they just keep cutting in front of you.  Give me a twisty 2-lane anytime!

FFC, I'm not sure what speeds you're used to (or your friends). When I've had to go south, 80 to 85 was the normal rate, and of course many were driving much faster.   :dunno:
My goal in life is to be as a good a person as my dog already thinks I am.

Werd, I've been down there going with the flow in one lane, people passing in another lane, look down and notice we're doing 85.

Tonight I saw a guy on 65 that wanted to turn on to the southbound lanes go into the northbound lanes. Luckily their were few cars and he got going in the other lanes safely.

So, Sacramentens of Marlin Crawler... I have an interview at the CCC office on 24th street at 10am. I am leaving from Lincoln and i'm going to count on it being rainy and wet. Yahoo maps says 33 minutes. Is planning on leaving an hour and a half before good or can I do it safely in an hour?
Bobbed 84 xtra cab, pickin up parts as I go.

I don't know about every where else in Cali but in San Diego 60 means 90

When I come down to Cali to Fresno, I'll try to stay under 85, but there are times your getting your doors blown off.  Except, when you come into Redding, you better throw the binders on like crazy.  You no sooner level out of the mountains and there are cops everywhere!!

:yesnod:  A word to the wise: you'll want to slow down just after going over the pit river bridge.  They constantly run several car stings from the first second overpass after the bottom of the hill, and there can be chp littered anywhere from the crest of the hill on down to red bluff.

They like to sit on the right shoulder in that huge open area after the top corner after the bridge too...

i think i got iv figured it out. The problem is that so high of a percentage of californias population is two generations removed from driving around in a cart and donkey on dirt roads, that this slick paved stuff is just too hard to get used to, i think it will get better with time.         :twocents:

Since I currently drive for a living I have had to remember some of things I used to do to keep from being hit. Since I drive in an airport I consider that everyone there has no clue where they are going and may change 3 lanes or turn right from the left lanes. It happens to me almost everyday. The real fun ones are the people the turn and go the wrong way. :smack:
