My new audio system. Soon to be installed. I want to run the four cab speakers off the deck, two 6x9" and two 3.5". Then I am trying to fit two 12" subs behind my seats to be run off the amp.

Deck will plug into amp and amp will run four speakers. Easy peezy! Later when I figure out how to fit sub(s) I will. The deck still has sub RCAs I can use for that bazooka or whatever.

Now, I know speakers are as varied as breasts but I need a starting point. 6x9s? What about using 6.5" in the doors instead of the 3" in the dash? or keep using the 3" in the dash with 6.5"s in the doors?

Ideas?  :help: ?

Deck,

Amp,

Get a bigger alternator and get big wire for all of it and then give it all to me.  :talkingn: :gap:

Tallchevy

How many gigawatts is that amp  :rofl2:

It would sound soo much better if you run an amp to your highs but you can make it sound ok with just the deck. Be sure to bridge your subs. Subs will always sound better when ran mono. Are you going to run a prefabbed box or a custom box? ported or sealed? What kind of subs? A custom ported downfire will sound the best in there. My buddy runs 3 10" JL W0's in a custom downfire ported box in his 2nd gen xtra cab and it pounds super hard.

Also run a x-over for all your stuff then things will surely sound good!

Subs are Baja. The box will be custom and sealed. I am trying to run the subs facing down as recommended by a friend but I am running into problems with that setup, so, I will probably end up running them on a 45* facing backwards and downwards.

This x-over has me confused. I want to run the amp off the deck with RCAs. The deck has sud RCA plugs. Is it already crossed?

Here is the space.

jrock

The box fitting the subs has to be 14" and all I have is 13" maybe a bit less behind the seats.

fordh8r

Make it 13". The speaker opening only has to be like 11 1/8" or something like that. You have to build the box and assemble it completely before cutting the speaker opening.

jrock

Okay, I'll do that. I hope this makes sense. Here is my plan, I want to make a box to fit the couture of the floor so I have a flat surface to put my sub box on.

Jud

A 45* facing forward like towards the bottom of the seats will sound better than facing towards the back wall. You need space for the subs to push air into. Are you calculating the proper air space for the subs you are using?

Is the red area going to be part of the box volume?

just put two 10" sas Bazookas ... no box needed
or a jl audio pre fab box

And If anyone needs any audio stuff let me know i have tons of old school audio new in the box.

Bazookas are badass. Well the ones with the built in amp, the others are questionable. And JL prefab boxes wont always sound good. You need to have the correct airspace for whatever sub you are running. You can make a JL w7 sound shitty if you don't have the correct air space or porting.

It's a base to match the floor and is not part of the box.

I really don't want to spend money on more equipment but how much is one of these Bazookas?

emsvitil

Wouldn't having the red area as part of the box volume help?

It would if I could integrate it with the top but making a box to fit it would be way more headache than it's worth. The red right now would just be a platform. Maybe a hiding place for the amp.

jrock

Does anyone have pictures of a sub-box or tube in an x-cab?

jrock

New direction!

I have another piece of equipment if it is useful.

Tallchevy

What speakers are gonna use in the front when you take the doors off?

jrock

Oh, good call. Guess I will need the 3"s. Could I work it if I also had the 6.5"s in the doors?

jrock

And is that pre-amp needed? It looks to have the same buttons as the amp and it only had 2 RCA inputs. My deck has 4. Only thing I want is the Aux.

emsvitil

You can keep the 3" speakers (mid & high) and add another pair (under seat?, door?) (low) with a crossover for them on the front channels.

This wouldn't be a full bass, but would give you some more low.........

Go buy some good 4" speakers for the dash. Like some ARC Audio or Alpine Type-S speakers. They will sound awsome with a amp running them. I run two 4" Alpine Type-S in the dash and two 6.5" Alpine Type-R in boxes behind my seats. I run a 500w 4ch Alpine amp to those 4 speakers then a JL 250w Mono channel amp to a 12" w0 sub. It's pretty damn loud especially sitting in the single cab with all the windows in and the doors on. lol

jrock

How do you fit the 4" in the dash?

emsvitil

With my 86, the stock fronts are 4".

They're really in the lower part of the dash...............

Replacement 4" just fit............ (more magnet clearance than speaker diameter).   I added some rubber washers on the back part of the mounting flanges......
