I have a deck and amp.
Deck: Alpine CDM-7871
Amp: Koiiler XM-8686

Now, you car audio afficionados, are these worth putting in?

I've always found it most useful to do a google search with the product info like you have, check multiple links and see if I keep seeing the same things said over and over.  Usually works out really well for me  ;)

if it works, run it. the deck seems like it would be ok, the amp, run it and if you decide to get something else, its already wired for another one
When in doubt, skinny pedal!

I did some searching for the amp and only found the same info that's on the amp. No reviews yet. Plus, I have no real idea what I'm looking at. The deck online say it's good for an inexpensive deck.

Hard to beat a good Alpine !! You need to get good speakers to go with it !!

I have to figure out a great speaker for a budget.

It's tough to beat Infinity for the money, especially if you can snag some good ones off ebay.  Also depends on what type of music you like.  I like fast and/or heavy stuff, down to stuff like 3 doors down, so the clarity and crispness of Infinity speakers works well for me.

Metallica, 3 Doors Down, System of a Down.... Fat stuff.

I'll look at Infinity.

Crutchfield used to have user reviews on their site  :dunno:

^^Agree.

The speakers you run will make the difference.  IME MBQuarts are some of the best you can(could buy)  The ones in my '90 are now 15yrs old and sound just as good now as they did when new, and I have a wide range of music that I listen too.  I am not sure about the quality of the current ones, seeing how they are much cheaper now then even when holding for inflation then when I bought mine.

In my trail rig I run the cheap roadmasters, the sound isn't all that bad for what they cost.

Well, I have a good idea of what I want to do. I have what I need. I just need to do it. This will get started very soon.

Tall., is this what you where talking about?

Tallchevy

Yup, that will work for what we were talking about
