How long will these last on a DD? Nice Price!
« on: Aug 22, 2009, 11:27:23 AM »
Hey guys and Gals!

  Found these for my truck.....

Wondering how long they would last and how they will drive?  I drive about 20 miles each way to work on a straight 2 lane road.  Rains alot here in NC so I am keeping that in mind as well.  Thanks!

Sipe them and they'll do better in the rain, but I don't think any swampers are that good on wet pavement.  As for asking how long they'll last, that's only up to speculation.  20,000 miles maybe if properly rotated and inflated, maybe more maybe less.  It's just too hard to say since 2 rigs set up the same can wear tires at a different rate.  Figure on getting roughly 1/2-2/3 the miles out of them that you get out of your normal sets, but again, that's very rough.

Definitely not a tire I would DD. Not only for wear reasons but being bias ply they're gonna flat spot after sitting, and I would imagine they don't balance for :pokinit:. They are a sick tire though.
It was just crazy to see this deer leap all suicidal style off this embankment right in front of us.

Yeah we talked about this last night - get some 33 (semi)mud terrains like the Firestones or Bridgestones or whatever - tye'll work a bit better than an AT and last several years easy.  Perfect for a DD.

Thanks guys, I decided to pass that deal up and just spend the money for BFG AT's like I had planed.  They have always done me right!

They should work fine, but I'd still recommend a slightly more aggressive AT/mild MT.  BFG MTs are fine but are nothing special, either.  Considering the high price, you can do better.  My BFG MTs are way better off-road and about identical on-road except for rain, where I have to give myself a bit longer braking distance.(of course to hear it, ALL serious off-road tires are like this - just not enough sipes and not enough of a contact patch for serious rain.
