Dual Cases
« on: Aug 11, 2009, 01:01:14 AM »
This may be a stupid question but i am just getting into building my rig and a dual case set up is in the near future along with a ton of other work. But What is the advantage to using a dual case adapter theats rotated 10 degrees? Is this to get a better angle on the the drive lines?  :-\ Thanks for the help.

Moves the front output of your transfer up. Helps with clearance.

Ok thanks for the info. Seems like thats the way to go. Also somtimes when I take off from a stop it seems like something binds up in the rear end then pops loose. Any idea what this could be? could it Just be the springs binding or is it something in the rear end?

Are you running blocks? This is a common problem with lift blocks. Make sure the u-bolts are torqued.

It makes a more severe front u joint angle. You also have to make your own crossmember as the typical aftermarket ones are made for non rotated cases (I don't believe). They give you more clearance though for sure. I personally did the standard adapter so I could use the crossmember I had and would not have to worry about binding the front u joint at full droop with unturned knuckles. Simplicity.

Remember, the 1-3/16" of ground clearance you're gain will only apply if you have a Front Range Off Road crossmember or some other flat belly cross member. Otherwise, a beneath the transfer case crossmember will nullify the gain in ground clearance, and the only remaining benefit will be a slightly lifted front drive line.

Yea I have been looking at the flat belly cross members. Just a matter of wich way i decide to go now. Also I have a bench seat and could I fit the shifter for the rear case in there and just have it be tight or will I have to change to some bucket seats?
