Halladay

so my buddy has a 90 toyota truck 4cylinder and he just replace the clutch but he doesnt recall seeing a pilot bearing in the crank or on the output.  and he is saying there was none in the first place. is this even possible to run it without a bearing? he put the new clutch in and didnt install a pilot bearing when he did it so i think somthing bad is going to happen. what about you guys

toyotanner

its gonna go boom! i give it less than 50 miles

Cheesemaker

He'll be fine if he didn't take out the old one.  I would pull it and do it right.

If there is no pilot at all, the input will not be happy. He'll start loosing bearings and even hard parts eventually.

haha no i will tell him to do it right and pull the tranny back out. only bad part is he dont have a tranny jack. so its hard as hell haha

79coyotefrg

pull the tcase off separate,  if he's fairly strong he can take it out but use a strap to stay safe

run the strap thru the cab and under the frame,

Ive done it my self everytime.  sometimes separating the tcase and sometimes not.

A strap definately helps.
