Need help identifying these ring and pinion are for!!!!
« on: Jul 25, 2009, 04:44:34 PM »
I found a set of 5.29 ring and pinion in my stash, and was wondering if they are 4cyl of V6 gears. The ring gear is 8" and is stamped 37x7 84B, and the pinion gear is stamped 37x7 84A. I cant find any info on what these are for? thanks guys

OK, let me say this, the V6 uses larger bearings on the housing side, the inside dia is the same on both the 4 cyl and V6. I have used 4 cyl gears in a V6 housing, but had to use about a 1/4 shim behind the pinion bearing to get the proper depth. That being said I would expect the pinion on the V6 to be deeper from the bearing shoulder to the pinion face.

Are there any other markings?

Here is a picture of a stock 4.10 4 cyl on the left and a 5.29 V6 on the right. The V6 measures about 1 5/8'' while the 4 cyl is around 1 3/8.
