OK, let me say this, the V6 uses larger bearings on the housing side, the inside dia is the same on both the 4 cyl and V6. I have used 4 cyl gears in a V6 housing, but had to use about a 1/4 shim behind the pinion bearing to get the proper depth. That being said I would expect the pinion on the V6 to be deeper from the bearing shoulder to the pinion face.
Are there any other markings?
Here is a picture of a stock 4.10 4 cyl on the left and a 5.29 V6 on the right. The V6 measures about 1 5/8'' while the 4 cyl is around 1 3/8.
