I trimmed the body back quite a bit and also have a 1" body lift that let me tuck my drivetrain up a bit more.  The suspension is totally stock height, no spacers or cranked torsion bars.

I have about 2" out of the fenders and then the firewall was cut back about 1-2".  To get full turn I am going to have to take a little more out of the firewall.  It feels great offroad since it is so wide and low, never feels tippy.

huh...is it a smoother ride??? cuz i feel like im offroading 24/7. im gunna drop a shock soon so it doesnt have so much rebound but still...its rough. what buisness do u got goin in the back???

jtaco1

The front is just the way it came from the factory in 1988.  The ride is pretty good, it doesn't flex very much up front though.  It looks like your torsion bars are cranked pretty high from your picture, that is probably a big part of why your rides rough.

As for the rear, I have the stock springs from 1988 with a slightly longer shackle to get the rear up since the hardtop is pretty heavy.  I have slightly longer shocks int eh back that were off my 2.5" lifted tacoma and I am also running a bumpstop to keep teh tires out of the fenders.  So I have about 2" of uptravel in the back, eventough the rear flexes really well. You can see the bumpstop in this picture.

and overall flex

hmmmm maybe when i get 35's ill let off the torsions a bit and cut the piss outta my fenders and get a 1-2in body lift. thanks man this helping alot...i dont have the money for a SAS or the time...hell even a place to do it lol.
