You guys remember the Rhino's that came out about 7 years ago. Thats were this stuff came from. My only question is what are they using as a T-Case. I know that the Honda's dont have trannies with 1st gears that low.

I remember them using a saturn engine and tranny turned sideways in the one in that episode, the tranny being the transfer case essentially.

the engine/transaxles (front wheel drive) is mounted so the axle that would drive the  left front tire (on the car) goes to the rear axle (of the buggy) and the shaft that goes to the right front tire (of the car) goes to the front axle (of the buggy)

so if you use some yota axles or sammy axles  whatever comes out of the front wheel drive care axle is reduced 4:10  or whatever your differentials are

No Honda and Saturn are not related in fact Saturn is made by GM. So there is no relation their.

But what to do about a T-Case.

I cant imagine it being very crawl worthy without one. Other wise they have on heck of Torque Converter.

go to pirate and search for rock ape's "lo budget pimpin" thats the buggy that xtreme is copying

kneedownnate

The tranny IS the t-case!  The particular gear ratio for the tranny gear is the ratio that comes out to the axles, ie: say 1st gear is 4:1, it's like having 4:1 gears in the case, and each subsequent gear in the tranny works the same.

Glen, the first episode they had with them was with saturn powered buggies.

Its a 1600cc Honda Civic motor and trans. Hp dana 30 front and hp rev rotation d30 in the rear. Full hydro steering front and rear. Rear steer and crab.steer. They are pretty cool for the beach....... But thats it they would die in the rocks.

thanks for the link. that guys rig is chingon! bad ass! ext...  thats what i wanna do. man i wanna build this thing!

The idea of using a Honda engine is because it is a reverse rotation engine.  That way you can use the transaxle mounted in the rear to send power to both axles without turning the axles upside down.   They eliminiate the t-case to keep it as light as possible.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

ok so this is the plan. it is going to be pretty funny. first off i have a 86 toy frame with rear axle and ifs in front. do a SAS. run chevy springs in the back and toy rears in the front. mount the free honda crx engine that my buddy is giving me on the toy frame. throw a seat on and run some square drive shafts. and a roll bar. getto as :pokinit: but who cares lol. let me know what you guys think.

Let me know how that works out for u.

I saw one of these a couple years ago and have been in love every since! I am getting ready to start on mine now.... I will start a thread on it when I get some more parts together and get started on the chassis! I will be able to build the whole buggy with everything costing me under 6k!!!
Having a 12 second Honda is just like coming out of the closet; You're going to surprise a bunch of people, but in the end you're still gay.
