The Double D
« on: Jun 01, 2009, 11:10:28 PM »
Well I have been on here alot reading about peoples rigs and decided to start my own. I got a 1990 Standered cab with a 3 inch body lift on there when i bought it and 33's. I put in a new motor, tranny, clutch, flywheel in it in january and it now has just over 8 thousand miles on it. It is my daily driver so the mods are gone be little for now im think straight axle with custom built leafs that will give me about 2 inchhs of lift. Ill probably go with some 35's. Its getting a lockrite for the rear here soon since i destroyed my spider gears about 2 months ago and just welded them so i could still drive it and now my tires are about gone. Doug thorly header with flowmaster. coustom built bumpers cage rock sliders spare tire mount. build a set of half doors or tube doors. ill put some pics up in the next couple of days for you guys to see. well if you got any good info on what you have done let me know i always like to hear what people have done and what has worked good and what hasent.

The nitto mud grappler wears badly and the lowest rim size they make is a 17in,  not to sure about the cooper.  cant wait to see some changes to the truck!

replace all the parts in the front of the engine.

Oil Pump, Timing Gears, Metal Guides, Chain, Tensionor, Water Pump and Gaskets.
While its apart... its good insurance... cause pulling that crap apart is PITA as it is.

No i put this engine in it april and when i put it in i couldn't get the timing marks to line up. Been trying different things and still cant get it lined up so i figured that the timing chain is off a couple teeth pulled it all apart and its floppin dead on? So none of the parts need to be replaced just need to figure whats going on.

So heres the problem if anyone has had the same and has some infe on it. It idles at 1000 to 1200, the mark on the harmonic balancer and the timing mark is about 70* advanced when i set the distrubiter to run so i have good throtle responce and have power, and it misses evey now and then.

check your plugs.... check the gap on them as well.

make sure you have the harmonic balancer at 0* and the cam at 1-3*
then have the rotor point directly at Cyl 1.
then once its started.....3-5* BTDC with the diagnosis port jumped for ignition timing.
