I´m 22, 6´6" and I weigh 285 lbs. I´m not fat, I can pinch some fat on my stomach but thats about it.

Me and my GF applied for a health and accident insurance and a life insurance the other day.

I then got an Email from the insurance company saying I was overweight and that they would need to charge me a premium. I tried to explain that I was not fat, practice judo and walk at least an hour a day with my dogs and eat sensibly. Even after I offered to see a doctor so he could explain that I was healthier that most of the people they insure, they still said I needed to pay extra.

It turns out that they use some computer program that calculates our height in some formula and comes up with your ideal weight. They say my ideal weight is 196 lbs. :o

So my ideal weight could be reached with ephedrine and meth perhaps, but then they still would be bitching and moaning.

If I was lighter and maybe not as healthy then I would not pay extra. :smack:

Just needed to unload.

They consider a BMI of over 30 to be fat...............

So you need to say you're 259 lbs..........

height/weight ratios are stupid.  Granted, they may be a good starting point, but they're not very accurate, as they don't take into account any other factors, like bone structure, or the way your body develops.

hawk thor, I'm in a similar situation.  I could certainly stand to loose a few pounds, but I'm 6'6" and about 265.  For me to be at what the BMI scales show as my "healthy" weight, I'd have to weight less than 215.  I'd be freakin scrawny if I got down to that weight.

Yeah BLACKDOG, I fell down to 220 lbs about three years ago when I got mononucleosis and pneumonia. I looked like a tweaker, scrawny and weak.

I am the perfect weight....................if I was 7'4".
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

I feel ya-I was told I'm supposed to be 142lbs.... well, I'm 6' tall and I haven't been 142 since I was 12. I'd have to be pretty messed up to be 142 anymore.

Wow, I'm not as bad off as I thought I would be! I figured I was only slightly leaner than unsalted butter.  :dunno:
