I am wondering what this axle would have come out of.  I found papers in the truck about making the truck 4 wheel drive.  It has birfields so is it a toy or another japanese manufacturer???? :help:

Ok then on to the next ? Do these axles hold up as well as the toyota 8"??

jimbo74

dana 44s are close in strength to a toy 8 .... so i would say the ales you have.... probably not.....

you might have a toyota rear axle..... but its probably a 7.5"

2wd trucks at least after 79 had 7.5s with 5 lugs and spring under axles... some had 8s but it was rare

Yeah I would say it could be anything from a dana 25 to dana 30 because i have a three or four dana axles from early willies jeeps they all look similar, and yes they will break.

That steering is crazy to is it a push pull box or is it converted to an ifs type steering box? cause its cross over but i looks to have a drag link going forwards and back not parallel to the axle

I see a draglink behind the axle and a tierod in front....Whats wrong with that? It seems like a descent setup other than the weak early jeep axle, but I'm shure the 4wd conversion was an afterthought, and not overengineered like toyotas production 4wd units.
