So lets say you have $5000 to work with and are in need of a dependable yet FUN DD car that is 10 years or less old, a stick shift, and would require little to no work to make fun/dependable. What would you look at buying?

a 90s celicia isnt less than 10 years old..

get a civic.... seriously, they have high initial cost, but last forever... and you can easily get some performance mods... or just leave it stock....

or find an old 2wd toyota, they are actually usually kept in better condition than the 4x4s because people rely on them as work trucks... older than your criteria, but can be found cheap..... my 85 2wd was awesome, only died because i was a moron and rolled it

I have had bad luck with honda civics so i personally wouldnt recommend one. Does it have to be a car? If not i would buy a 2000+ 2wd tacoma with a 2.4 and 5spd. I bought one with a auto for $2200 with 288k and it still drove and ran great even the auto shifted fine. I drove it till had 316k on it and then sold ot for 2k. :twocents:

Find a subaru all wheel drive and RALLY!!!!   :yesnod:  I love driving my mother in laws.  It flies, and does awesome in the bad weather!  Grips snow and ice like crazy.  Did a CG for Wyoming, and there are a couple, including one in Casper.

That and you can get small lifts for them!!

Darn it - everyone beat me to it.  The least expensive car to maintain made my Toyota in the last decade is/was the Celica.  Get a GTS - easily the best little car for little money.

You guys all beat me to it, I'd try to find a cheap wrx that had maybe been slid sideways into a bank.  Probably the only way I'd find one that cheap.  That impreza would be a close 2nd.
