solid axle vented rotor upgrade question
« on: Apr 11, 2009, 10:11:56 AM »
I know this has been covered, and yes i have searched but my search on marlin's board isn't working. well my question is, what rotors do i use for the swap? i know marlin has some but i know there are some out there for a little cheaper. I have heard that the rotors you get are off of an 81-? FJ40 but i have also heard that the ones you need to get are the ones off of an 82-? FJ60. Which one is it? thanks

I used ifs truck calipers and '84 fj60 rotors. I think the fj40 and fj60 rotors are the same though.

I have found that the cheap chinese or tiwan made rotors start near minimum thickness.  Personally I wouldn't use them on a toyota front end because changing the rotors is labor intensive.  I used Brembos on my truck.  I cant remember the part number, they are top quality.  Only about $50 each.  I would return those cheapies to Kragen and get something better. :twocents:  At minimum get the best ones they sell at the chain store.  Or just order them from Marlin.
