Just north of the sports fields, Altamont Motorsports wants to buy or lease hundreds of acres to build a paved track for muffled cars, a dirt track for motorcycles, an off-road track for trucks and buggies, and a small track for bicycles.

But Chairwoman Mary Mitracos, wife of Tracy Planning Commissioner Pete Mitracos, said that people who like to go off-road for fun are "one of the most underserved segments" of park users, according to state parks officials.
