Strange low idle
« on: Sep 25, 2004, 06:26:19 PM »
I just did a Performance Accessories 3" body lift to clear my tires. Now that i tightened everything back up and start it up, it gets to about 500RPM then slowly dies to 200, then just dies. But once i start it up i can keep the engine rev'd a wee bit, pop in reverse and pop in first, then i can drive it fine. Then once i return to idle, it idles 500RPM constant, not dieng at all... i think i might have cracked a hose or something during the lift, or maybe my throttle is too loose... dunno, thats why i need help lol,. thanx alot!!

So is your truck carburated? If it's EFI then a low idle is not caused from a vacuum leak. I dont know enough about the vacuum lines on a carb engine, so I'll leave that nest alone, but the only other thing I can think of is you must have wacked either your TPS sensor (if fuel injected) or your distributor back a couple of degrees....

HAHAHAHAHAHA i found the GD :censored: problem! when i dropped my engine from the bodylift, it torqued my old ass 18 yr old intake hose and sheared a whole side off  :smack: :smack: there was like a 3.5" gash on the side i couldnt see, got me some duct tape and its good as new  whodathunk? were thinking replacing TPS sensor or vac leak, and $0.10 worth of duct tape fixed it ;)
