Witch do I pick for my 1980 toy a 4.7:1 T-case or 4inch Procomp lift?
:help:

I would vote 4.70's all the way

for what size tires?
35"+ go with t-case gears
if u just want to clear 33s better, go with the lift, and avoid rear blocks, get springs.

Hyena

pro cromp sucks, get the gears and cut the fenders.

What Kind of wheeling do you plan on doing?   If you don't have duals and you want to wheel on the road or in the snow, or mellow trails, the 4.7's are two low.

Never get Pro comp.  way too stiff.   You'll need a kidney belt.  :talkingn:

i run 4.5 procomps in the front of my crawler, got them for free, but they flex good after a breakin!

I live in Wyoming and wheel in Snow,Rock,Mud,Sand and drive on the street to work.

boggerunner

what are your axle gears, 4.10s with 35 every day to work is gonna suck, and wear out clutches more.

boggerunner

i run the same ones in my crawler with 37's
i doesnt get driven on the street, and has duals with 4.7's in the rear case.
go with the 4.7's

80_yota_pickup

if you dont have duals i would put that in instead of just making a single 4.7 case cause then you have more gear options. or get duals and 4.7's in the rear case!
SAY i WON't... AND i WILL

thanks man!

dude, its VERY easy to make lift with the stock springs by removing flat leaves and replacing them and adding leaves from a 2wd s10 or a 2wd ford f150

I say gearing, and just do minor lift mods like a shackle or bodylift.

i vote this option. i think having a single 4.7 case would suck in the snow and the mud.

in snow with on a tcase with 4.7 isn't bad just use 4high and that will be fine the same goes for mud

I'd stay away from the pro comps. Mine never got soft, gave them away to another wheeler and they're still stiff. Have got rears up front and 4.7 and love them both.  :twocents:

Now I just have more to think about? :headscratch:

35,s with 4.10 gears with 4.70 t-case would be ok off road and horrible on the street (you have some altitude to deal with).  at some point you'll be geared too low for things that require momentum, but in the rocks gears will go farther than ground clearance.

I'm running 35s with 4.37s and a stock T-case  and a 4seed now.
I just hope it's not going to be to low?
Crap I don't know!

if you are happy with how it drives on the street right now then do duals so you have gear options not just 4hi and slow a$$ 4low. its nice to have all the options.

It will only be lower in 4low or 2low, your street speed will stay the same.

When in doubt throttle out!

I would say duals. Either two stock cases. or a stock and a 4.7  Duals stocks is much cheaper than rebuilding or buying a 4.7.  I would get the cases setup and keep all the money you save and buy some 63'' springs for the rear. New springs up front. You could have all that lined up for under $700/800. If you shop around and do your homework      BTW: Im running 37's w 4:88 Duals 2.28/4.7 Love it.
