The RCI 2950 is an Import.  Not really a Ham but an overglorified CB.  Its can be tweeked and peeked,  properly modified it will do 10m Ham, 11m CB/Ham, and even 12m military stuff.  Its a great radio, I have had a couple 2950's.  Its not the Ham radio your looking for though.   Besides even with the beginner Ham liscense, I don't think you can operate on 10 meter.  Its been 15 years since I gave up being a licensed ham radio :stopit:

Yes I think your button is stuck.

Which license? Tech? General, or Extra?  Each licence has it privileges starting with tech having least and extra being the top license..

I will be getting my tech license.i plan to play around with those privaleges for a while then upgrade to general.

You mean an EXPORT radio.  It is sold in US and Canada as a Dual-band 10/12meter radio. It's use on 11 meter(CB) in North America would be ILLEGAL. I will agree that it' a GLORIFIED CB...it's got more senstivitve then a Cb but not as good as a Full blown HF Radio..

OK HF radios cover 1.8 to 30MHZ (General and above I think Tech have a few privileges on Sub-bands of the HF bands)  You would be looking at about $1000 to 1500 for a HF radio.. Some will also have VHF(6meter{50MHZ] and 2meter{144-148MHz}) these will cost a few dollars more the a HF only radio but can be worth it.

Also if you get the radio before you get you License DO NOT put it into a Commercial vehicle as that is illegal with out the ham license. You get a fine( which could stop you from getting the license) and have the radio taken..

Check out the ARRL website and find a local ham club, they can help you with questions and maybe a course.

Good Luck..
