I have been trying to find info but i cant seem to find any regarding the marfields. Anyone have experiance with them? Has anyone ran those and also ran longs? pro's and con's

THanks

What size tires are you running? The UM06 is as strong as a 27 spline Long.

36's..
Then save yourself the money, run stockers adjust your steering stops right, and go light on the skinny pedal.

I don't know, I am easy on the skinny and cracked a stocker, It got me home but in 4wd it bang every so often. Catch the umo6 on sale for 119$ and they are way worth it.

If your hard on your :pokinit:, Long's are the way to go.  But if you don't plan on hammering your rig, UM06 is the way to go.  I know alot of guys who run stock and just know how to drive their :pokinit: with no breakage ever.  When I get my axle, I'll put in Marlin's axles for the fact that I don't have the coin for Long's and I don't plan on hammering it.  I've seen guys who buy Long's just so they can brag about it.   :shake_head:

Agreed... Marlins axles are super tough!!! And I guess if you want to hammer on your shi....tt then go with the 30 spliners, hands down.

Like I said if you really hammer on the skinny go with the 30 spline Longs, if not run the um06 for half the price.. Thats why. Not everyone here is really hard on axles, and with 36s it is not as critical. Look at what Minisimp said he is on stockers still.

X2 nothing to do with bragging or nothing like that in my case. I just know I have spent a :pokinit: load of money on my rig and still have a lot to go and I look at it like this why not just get the best out there when you can and one less thing to worry about ? And as far as hammering on it yeah you can be easy and all that good stuff but if you are wheeling hard and not at the mall there will be a time when you have to hammer it. If you have been any time at all and never had to get on it well you need a tougher trail or trade for a ATV but that is just my opinion and we all know what those are like.

couldn't agree more. if you buy it they're already there problem solved. then if you decide to hammer it or maybe get bigger tires you can without buying another set of axles. i wouldn't pay a little less for something i might eventually upgrade. it has nothing to do with bragging just dont like breakin on the trail when it could be avoided

I installed Randy's R&P "birfield eliminator" kit, which has Dana 44 axles and U-joints. So far, running 35's I've had no problems. I do tend to be light on the skinny pedal. I've seen friends pop a birf with 33's and not hammering it too hard. Don't recall the price right now, but maybe something "else" to consider.

What kind of wheeling you planning on doing? Mini is right, if you know how to maintain the skinny pedal, stocks will last. I know a guy who wheeled at the hammers for a few years on stocks with 36inch tires and a spool.

Cheesemaker

We definitely need know what type of wheeling he does.  I know that UM-06 will be more than sufficient for my needs.  And carry the stock parts for spares.

Theres a guy that wheels with us, really knows how to drive but is not afraid to put it to the floor, he's been running original stock birfs on 33's since he bought the truck new in 85 and never had a problem. Ive watched him burn all 4 tires up a 12ft waterfall at full driver lock with the front locked in, but they held up.. those things are pretty strong especially if you are unlocked up front
