how were they with clearing your wheels? were you still able to get the hub over the washers/bolt heads sticking out?

so i have been abuseing the crap outta these for a few months now, and they are holding up great.   ive done a few 3rd gear waterfall launches, and blew up a rear ring and pinyon, and i havent had any problem with the new stud setup.  i do however have a new weak link in the hub, the gear that moves with the dial, ive broken 2 of these now.   time to send some off to get cryoed.

pumkin toy

well i broke an aisin hub this last weekend and i have a spare set of warn hubs.  the mounting holes on the warns are already wobbled out so i think i will donate them for this upgrade.  i'm gonna try it with these hubs and see how it works out.

i have heard that the warn hubs are junk.  ive got an 84 front axle layin in the garage with one warn hub on it.

pumkin toy

yeah the reason the suck is because they dont utilize the cone washers. so they come loose then all the hub studs shear off

i see.

i am making a kit using 7/16 fine thread studs for these, they will be available soon.
i have no problem with my allen head bolts, but i think they will sell better if i use studs instead of bolts.
i pick up the material tomorrow.

pumkin toy

the only thing i dont like about this upgrade is the fact that when you drill out the holes to accept the larger bolts, it doesnt leave much material around the bolt.  hopefully that area wont start to crack from the thinner material.

even if it did crack on the outside edge, all the force is on the sides of the bolts, the inner hub gear that slides back and forth is the new weak link.

Doof

how these holding up? its been a good amount of testing time by now

boggerunner

ive gone through 2 ring and pinyons, and the bolts have held up fine.

That and Warn makes the hub body from aluminum...........not steel
