« on: Jan 11, 2009, 08:43:36 PM »
So I have a 1994 toyota pickup 4x4 with ( I think) a w56 tranny in it.I was wondering my buddy has a R151 rebuilt tranny from marlin and a rebuilt 4.7 23 spline t-case and Im wanting to know if that would go right into my truck?Dont know what the difference is there and what i would have to change but all info would be greatly appreciated!

if his tranny has a bellhousing, it will bolt up to your engine with no issue. you will want to get a new clutch and possibly a new flywheel for the turbo setup as well

23 spline OUTPUT, the input is the same as a W56, just need the turbo bell housing as said above to fit to a 22RE

you can use the clutch you have, but it wont be optimized.... if the 23 spline output goes into a 23 splined input tcase, there is no issue.... your engine isnt splined, and the clutch and input have the same number of splines

lower 1st gear, strongest trans ever made for a 4x4 Toy, 23 spline outputs. and the same length as a G52/54 for a direct bolt in in a carbed 2nd Gen.

the r151f is better than a w series. you will have to change driveshaft lengths and a crossmember mount. still very doable
