It is a 14x14x5 ammo box. I got mine at M&I Surplus in Pomona California. It is a work in progress but simple.

I used all the bolts for the old heater and the electrical was already in that area for the old console. I am going to add a small pad with military canvas cover on it. The box size is perfect for an arm rest. I am 6' 1".

I like it for the storage and simplicity but I did get a look from my wife for getting rid of the heater

I just picked an ammo box over the weekend that looks to be about the same size. Only difference is mine has the lock on the long side instead of the short end, so it opens up sideways instead of front to back. Nice rig though man. Keep up the good work.

I also picked up some old green canvas duffel bags and I made a pad for the top. I will post the pictures when I get home tonight.

I think I am going to run one large power wire into the ammo box attached to a fuse block. Then run power to the switches from there. This will save me from having to run separate power wires and fuses to all the switches. I will keep the relays under the hood. This way I will only have one wire in and a single wire for each switch going out.

I am around $50 into the center console.

$10 floor mat from Autozone.
$15 ammo box
$15 misc; switches, cutoff wheels
$10 pad and used canvas duffel bag

Trust me u are gonna want some thicker padding under there

......go to an auto upholstery shop and beg for some foam scraps...thats what I did... use a piece of 1 inch board, drill some holes and put bolts thru the top of the board ..put foam on top....staple your fabric around the foam to the bottom of the board....secure board to lid with bolts

Very cool what you did with the ammo can. I have been toying with several ideas similar to what you have done, although I want to use an ammo can that has a hinged lid. I have a few of that same can though so I might end up doing something similar to that. Nice work.

It really didn't bother me with just the metal top. I decided to do it just to keep from jamming my elbow. The padding is dense sleeping pad foam. Ill try it for a while and then add padding if I need to later.  :)

I still might make the back side a hinge somehow. Ill do it later after I work all the little bugs out and see if I really need to.

Right now I'm trying to get ready for the Hammers this weekend

It looks like u have the same kind of can I do...when u lift up on the front....the backside acts like a hinge and stays on....

:gap:

I think you can order them on the web if you don't have a military surplus store near.

Ill have to check again but I think it said "23mm linked cartridges" on the side
