single t-case crossmember
« on: Jan 05, 2009, 09:12:01 PM »
i am having issues with my crossmember. i was wondering if i can use a turtle shell crossmember with a single t-case or will my rear driveline hit it. i suppose i can always cut it out. any ideas on a good crossmember setup for a single t-case?

the issue i am having is that where the crossmember actually bolts to frame. all of the threaded holes are actually stripped out. and the tabs for the 4 outer holes are actually peeling from the frame. the budbuilt crossmember uses these same mounting holes as the stock 1 and so does the turtle shell as well as others. i did find 1 from a company called 4x innovations that is actually a tube style crossmember that uses a totally different mounting base. it bolts to the frame but in a different location. though i have never heard of this company, and am not sure how the actual fit is. is there anybody out there that has 1 or know anybody that does. or any other suggestions :help:

You can put threaded inserts into your stripped out holes (helicoil) and actually make the holes stronger.

yea thats always an option. what about a turtle shell? all my buddys run them they work great. i should be able to use it if i just trim it a little right? since my rear driveline is longer using only a single t-case?

I dunno, I just made my own.  I welded feet to the frame and made the crossmember bolt to that.

Early pic when it was being fabbed.

Installed, sorry only two current pics I have.
