82 22r starting issue
« on: Jan 05, 2009, 12:19:14 PM »
I have question for y'all. After a recent rollover, now my 22r doesnt start. I can crank the motor till the cows come home without a sputter. I already replaced the fuel filter. But if I give it a shot of starting fluid it starts right up and runs fine till I shut it off then it doesnt start again till I use stating fluid again. Any ideas would be great! thanks

No fuel, check your float.   Stop running it with starting fluid.

I dont think so cause once it starts it high idles like normal untill warm then kicks down to 900 rpm

No fuel, check your float.   Stop running it with starting fluid.

Im not running it on starting fluid just give the carb a squirt to get it going. But Ill check the float

x2 on check the bowl level.  It's possible the needle got stuck in the closed possition and not allowing fuel into the carb.  So check the fuel bowl level and see if the carb has FUEL.  If empty, check to see if the fuel pump is working. (before you tear into the carb)  just pull the fuel line off the carb and crank the motor.  Get out of the way of spraying gas!  :D
